The original version of Khun Chang-Khun Phaen had mostly been lost and burnt by Burmese soldiers in 1767 A.D. It was the early Rattanakosin era, during the second and the third reigns, that Khun Chang-Khun Phaen was rewritten

The important events in the story took place in three Provinces: Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri and Kanchanaburi.
